I have a policy with direct line for my corsa, where i am the main driver, and im insured fully comp. My friend has just revealed to me, that because i have fully comp, i can legally drive any car (so long as i have permission) and be insured as third party on the car. Is this true? If so, im driving my dads A4 to work from now on, 1.2 corsa's dont cut it on the motorway

No its not.
There was a post about this at most 2 days ago.
You are only insured to drive other cars if it says so on your policy.

solely depends on the insurer,
most of them will want you to be over 25 and you have to pay for that privelage.
If your with c.i.s 3rd party of FC you can drive any other car with oweners permision on an off occasion thats it, and it cant be higher than an insurance group 14 i am led to beleive

Depends on insurer. Im not allowed to drive other cars until 25.
Besides - would your Dad enjoy the fact you would be driving his A4 down the motorway with 3rd party insurance

like others have said. it all depends on the insurance company. just go check your policy and it will tell you
im with tesco at the moment and they dont allow it which is a bit of a pain in the ass
i used to be 3rd party f+t with cis on my corsa and they let me do it
just go check your insurance policy document

Damnit direct line, as anal as they are. Either way, looks like i'll just have to stick with the corsa till my 1st year's up, then im changing companies. Whats CIS like, good service if you get in a crash?

i always found them to be very helpful over the phone and they normally send someone round to your house to set the policy up with you. i preffered this to speaking into a telephone.
when i twatted my corsa into a taxi they were awesome. and that was with the guy being a total prick. they ended up sending a loss adjustor to see the damage to my vehicle as he was claiming for everything under the sun. but when the woman who came saw the minor scuff on my bumper she just laffed at the claims he had made
but all i had to do was ring up and tell them about the accident and they did the rest of it. pretty good when you dont want all the hassle of someone trying to take you for a ride
they never charged me for any mods either. albeit only cosmetical but i had some expensive stuff on the car such as morrettes, bilstein suspension, nice stereo system
i think this may have had something to do with only being 3rd party f+t though so dont think im saying they never charge for mods cos im not sure.
sure enough i will find out when i go back with them in a few weeks time and slap some stuff on the fiesta

at the end of the day the responsibility lies with you to check whether you are insured to drive a car noone else
its the same as if you drive a car and you didnt know it had no tax or mot. As you are the driver you will get done.
Therefore i would check with your insurer as noone here is going to be able to answer this question apart from them

Or just look at your policy documents

Check your policy. I get this on my TPFT from AA Dunno if it's a typing error, because i'm only 19 and it's only TPFT but it clearly states it on the policy

maybe but i would stil refer to insurer for t's and c's
my policy says any car but when i spoke to tesco they told me only in special circumstances e.g an emergency (your own car has broken down and you need to get to work, or you are a passenger in a car and the driver is taken ill and you need to drive)

i always thought it depended on your insurer.
and if you are allowed you most definately need to be over 25.
