Parked up at mum and dads last night they live in a cul de sac and i parked half on road half on pavement.
the bloke diagonally opposite my mums house backed out and hit my car.
he set the alarm off, i heard the alarm but not him hit it, anyway i went out to turn the alarm off but didn't see the damage, hour later knock at thedoor and its the bloke saying sorry but he has hit my car. he explains he setalarm off on my car but was unsure if he had hit it so drove off and checked when he got in.
he says get it fixed and he will pay. last night it only looked like it was the door he had hit and dented but also the rear quarter is scratched.
I will take it the bodyshop that did my corsa as i know their work is top notch, but not the cheapest (not dealer prices tho!)
problem is that although he has offered pay incase he tries get out of it i want to inform my insurance, my current policy with tesco ends tonight and my direct line one starts tomorrow,

the accident happened when covered by tesco so it should be them who i contact but will i then have to stay with themeven tho i have cancelled renewal and bought my direct line policy.

would it be a good idea inform both insurance companies? not sure which way play it?

if it comes down to it and he won't pay and i have to use my own insurance the excess would probably be more than thevalue of the damage (250-350 i reckon) so would pay out of my own pocket

just want try cover myself as much as possible, don't want to claim just get the details registered incase it turns nasty
