Since I passed my driving test, a while ago, I've always had vauxhalls (apart from a couple of volvos) and swore I'd never buy a Ford.

That plan went tits up when I bought a Transit a few months ago, but that doesn't count because it's just a crappy van.

Then I saw the new Focus ST with the Volvo T5 engine, and it made me want to sell the Corsa, and get a loan, so I could have one

but it's a FORD!!

Somebody talk me out of it!

Parts for the T5 engine are stupidly expensive -- just a new alternator is over £600 IIRC...

PS: You wanted talking out of it... lovely engines though Shame what's wrapped around it

Yes, but I wouldn't spend £19,000 on an Astra either!

Way I see it is that if you want a fast car you should buy one specifically for going fast. If you need a car thats comfy buy one thats comfy. If this means having 2 cars then so be it.

I'd much rather spend £13,000 on a Cossie & £6,000 on a normal Focus. (Thats just a relative comparrison) Call me weird but I like the bucket feel of my car. Its knocks, it rattles and it smells of petrol but that reassures me that im driving some thing raw & real. No, the handling isn't spot on & its not had all the fun/danger elememt taken out of it by the developers, but thats a plus in my eyes. Certainly makes it fun All these fast armchair hatchbacks with big price tags just don't do anything for me

No one else feel the same?

Plus beating the armchairs never gets boring

IMO i like my fast cars to be as safe as possible.. as it will be doing silly speeds, i also like them to have a bit of comfort for when you wanna stick it in 5th an cruise... i always feel if you want something with feck all refinement and pure speed get a feckin motorbike...

A car that ticked every box would be a dream, fast reliable, comfy, safe etc..
