right, im thinking of taking some scuba diving kit in a ruck sack on holiday, in a plane with me. it all fits neatly into a small rucksack, but im wondering if
a) they would mind me taking it aboard? (i cant see why not?)
b) the total wieght your allowed to take on the plane? (the scuba stuff wieghs 8.4kg, so im wondering how much i will have left for clothes and that etc).

The total weight is around 20 kg per person.. although depends what airline you fly with.
I don't think that they would have a problem if it fits neatly into a rucksack... although i would think you wouldn't be allowed to have it as hand luggage.
Are you going on holiday alone? If not weigh everyone's suitcase and see what the total weight comes upto... as it's 20kg per person in the party... and so if theres ant weight left over someone else could use it..
If ya get me.... Hope that helps...

that does help thanks, i kinda thought about that earlier Kat.
i think the scuba stuff would prolly be too big to fit as hand luggage.
My misses was worried cos shes under the impression you can only take 1 suitcase on board with you, where as might have a suitcase + this rucksack.

That will be fine aslong as its not a tank for underwater diving or anything as it would explode !
If its bits and bobs like snorkel etc then you will be fine, total weight is normally about 25 but gf took hers at 35 and was fine
If it is over and they get assey (very rarely) you can pay a little extra to get through

you can take a compressed gas chamber on with you without a valve on, in other words, you must be able to see into the tank if a torch is shone into it... however that would mean finding a good trust worthy place abroad to fit the valve back on the bottle and pressure test it for you...

I was only a little bit over the limit and had to pay £20, i think it depends which airport your at though as to how much you are allowed, we were only allowed 20, and some lads from Plymouth were allowed 32 they said!
