Clocks are wrong
Even when I'm doing about 40 mph on clocks my road angel shows my speed at about 36 mph. The faster I go the more out they are! Over 100 they get really out!
All about your tyres expanding as they spin faster (ever seen drag cars do burn outs... the tyres expand outwards) - I noticed more speedo inacuries with my old 60 profile tyres than my lower profile on the 15's... Possibly doesn't expand as much? but still way out.
I've seen once I think about 134 ish mph in mine and road angel was showing around the 126 ish mph. This was when I had only just got the car (as 2 weeks after I got nicked for speeding on a motorway  doh, and haven't gone into three figures or close since) ... but to be honest it did feel it had more to give and if you were going down hill / had some mods (as mine was standard), even exhaust etc would be an improvement. Could possibly get about 132 on road angel with a few mods and a steep hill that could well of been your 140ish on clocks your mate saw.
