1, is it possible to share the calander accross the company?
(without having exchange server installed).
2, What does exchange server to exactly?
Im guessing, it downloads the emails like a normal email server, and they're distributed to the users when they open outlook and download them?
Also, are the emails actually 'stored/backed up' on Exhcnage server?

it is Offday after all. use Google for questions
okay okay, bartus, the exchange server works just like you explained in question 2, but it is up to the administrator of receiving end to demand whether emails are stored on the host

Correct Cyber, the only benifit to having an exchange server, IMO, is that you can send people emails just by using thier friendly name...
So for me, at work it goes as follows.
duerdea03@leedslearning.net
Duerden,A
duerdea03
either of the above in the address field will get the mail to me from another user on the exchange.

Also has a web front end for users to use, with Inbox functionality, public folders, like a message board... and address book, also public/private calendar.

hmm.. not what im after i think guys.
But thanks for the info.
My bosses have asked me to find some software where by the office staff can share a calender.
IT needs to be pretty and easy to use.
I found this software Here which is ideal, and has a nice calender feature:

but its a crappy monthly fee... not thanks!
Anyone else have any ideas? ive seena few other programs, but nothing really takes my fancy.
We do have a internal website, so if it was html/php etc i could integrate it with that.
