i have a 1995 corsa 1.5td can anyone tell me why the rev counter keeps dipping when the revs get too 2k??? the revs dont dip just the counter

No, of course not, hence the "?". But the rev counter feed comes off the alternator, so it's a possibility.

oh ok. is strange its like the car is trying to tell me something its like a ticking clock when u keep the revs at 2k it bounces from 2k down to about 500 rpm but above 2k its fine except some times it goes back to 0 for like 5 secounds then starts back up again. i thought it might o been the cars way o tellin me their is summet wrong like a fault code or summet.

try replacing the alt belt just to rule that out, mine did this (well similar) when first starting due to a slipping belt altho u could actually hear it

if its like the 306 td (which it prob is ) it will be the tdc sensor which points at the flywheel as on the diesels this is the only true way to measure the rpm

No tdc sensor on 1.5 TD afaik. No ecu either. Rev counter pickup is from the alternator.
I've had the same problem on my '97 1.5TD, and I heard the belt too.
