yeah, you'll pay tax braket for engines 1549cc and above (about £180 a year)
admiral.com insurance should give you a good quote in no time at all.

I dont think it will be a problem with you getting insurance... should be easy with your age...
What I would say is unless you really really want one I wouldnt bother..
8K is alot of cash and yo could get some much better, higher spec cars for your money... The only reason I got the 1.8 SRi is because I had already had the 1.2 SXi and wanted to keep all my kit etc a bit longer so i didnt loose as much money.. Therefore I bought the 1.8 Corsa C..
If my SXi was standard I would of just sold it with ease and bought something much better...
Hope this answers ya question, any probs u2u/msn me
Cheers,

you should know from already driving a 1.2 that it isnt enough
1.4 maybe ok, but I think you'd get bored of the lack of power pretty soon, go for the 1.8 if you have your heart set on a corsa c, otherwise invest in something a bit more powerful
you can pick up a nicely modified saff cossie running around 300-400BHP for that kind of cash
