Two puppies used for filming the Andrex toilet paper advertisements were earlier stolen from a North West studio.

The valuable dogs were taken during a break in filming at Liverpool Film Studios, at around 1.30pm today. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a blue vauxhall speeding from the scene.

A police spokesperson commented that this was "a cruel and unusual crime" and appealed for the animals' safe return. Luckily, cameras on the set captured the face of one of those responsible for the theft, believed to be local to the area. Police released the following still image in conjunction with the crime:
