My Astra is going to a (trustworthy) garage that I used when I used to live in Slough, to find out why it's about as powerful as a 1.0 12v, has the fuel economy of a V12, has a low idle (550rpm) and misfires sometimes at idle.

I was doing a bit of research on the Squinternet and it seems it could be down to a 'vacuum leak'?

And also it doesn't seem to be using oil any more (or 1L oil per month)...

I hope I don't need a new engine...

Would a split/clogged hose relating to the EGR system cause the above problems?

The car runs perfectly when cold, just in normal operating temperature that it's crap, and I can make it go into tractor mode by putting the air conditioning on!

low idle, is this wrong? Mine sits around 400 RPM Goes higher when the fan comes on or you use the lights etc.

It's supposed to be at least 800rpm on my car.
