i ordered my tickets for kiss 2020, and received this email... the thing which im worried about is ive never heard of sending my credit card details over an email :? whatcha think? gonna phone the place tomorrow

----------------------------------------------

Dear MR O P CRIPPS,

I am writing to request that you provide See Tickets with a copy of a recent
statement for the card used to place the order for
KISS 2020 at Alexandra Palace, Wood Green, London on 17/09/2005.
This is an added security measure to help against credit card fraud.
Please fax to 0115 9348769, FAO Rachel Martin or alternatively you
may scan the statement and e-mail it to cardverification@seetickets.com
quoting booking reference ******** on all correspondence and
blanking out any transactions & balance amounts if you wish, as we only need
hard copy verification of the details already provided.
Incorrect details may lead to your order(s) being cancelled in the event
of failing our further security checks. If we have had no contact within
seven days any orders booked may be cancelled and a full refund applied to the
credit/debit card used to place the order(s).

All documentation received will be handled in confidence, in compliance with
the data protection act. Many thanks in advance for your cooperation and we
apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Isn't it obvious? If you are honestly doubting its a dodgy scam, phone them up and ask them to confirm the email was from them!!

reply with somthing along the lines of;

No reputable company will ask me for any of the information requested in the previous e-mail.
If there had been a security issue with my card then you need to contact the relevant authorities, i am not legally obliged to provide you with the personal information you have requested.

Umm... Since when does someone selling something require a copy of your credit card STATEMENT when you buy something from them with your card?

i sent that reply that i said i would yesterday and woke up to this reply:

"Thank you for your email. As a mail order company we have to do our utmost
to cut down on credit card fraud.

We have been using this procedure for the past 5 years and found it, more
than, does the job it is intended for.

The additional request is merely to ascertain that the person making the
booking is a genuine card holder or at least has permission to use the card.
We have been commended by the Constabulary as being, at present, the only
company trying to cut down on fraudulent transactions on credit cards and
although there are flaws they are minimal.

Fortunately for myself only 1 in 100 people object to sending through the
details as requested in the email, many of the customers are happy to learn
that we do have such awareness of the problems caused by fraudulent
transactions on credit cards and are more than happy to provide the
statement.

Without the verification being received the order will be cancelled and refunded

In full to the card used to make the purchase.

We take all feedback with a positive outlook and appreciate individual
concerns in regards to any policy we hold."

argh! i dunno what to do now

They only want to confirm that you are getting the statements associated with the number.

phoned em...

they said it was just a random test that they do, and i was unlucky enough to be chosen  anyway i am confident its not a hoax, so i sent them the email... but only with my name, address and card number, everything else blocked out, so basically given them what they already had again.

however i also sent them a seperate email explaining how i think its a bad way of doing things and quoted what people on here and at other places have said! told em if they do this all the time theyre probably gonna be losing a lot of business...
