How many of you have a show car? After all the money you spend on your cars, it ends up getting wrecked by driving it everyday. thinking about getting another car as a runabout and just using the car for going out in/shows etc. Before any of you say my car isn't "show" material, im not saying that. I know some people will say whats the point in having a car if your not going to drive/enjoy it but you can still enjoy it, you just don't wreck it by driving it everyday. Thoughts/Opinions?

you gotta try and weigh up whether the extra cost of running 2 cars is worth it for the car you wanna keep to show standard.
personally i dont think its worth the extra cost and have looked into it in the past and decided against it.
think about it, 2 insurance policies, 2 cars to tax, 2 cars to repair when things go wrong.
just extend extra caution with your car and driving it everyday will show minimal wear.
as long as you keep on top of things like paint depreciaition, stonechips etc then there wont be a problem with it looking poor
my 2ps worth

It needs ALOT of stone chips re-done

I drive a Peugeot 307 for work and running around in instead of my Escort Cossie and Charlotte drives a Fiesta to work and stuff instead of the Corsa.
The Cossie and Corsa are just used a fun cars to blast around in. I used to have an absolutley mint S2 Escort Turbo and it got wrecked using for work and everyday use.
Second car is deffo the way to go if you wanna be keeping to show standard

I used to drive it every day, the body work and paint is fucked by a combination of Midas Styling being a bunch of imcompitant idiots and a person running a key down the paint. Oh, and the arch broke because a bit of tyre got caught in it driving down the motorway.

I would love to have a nice, fast, mint car (not necessarily a kitted up one) that was only used at weekends and sat in the garage during the week. I know alot of people think its pointless but if I could afford to run 2 cars then I would do it!

I have the V6 which i use every now and again, weekends etc.
and the bucket as my everyday run about
main reason, not cos its a show car as it dosent really go to many shows i do it beacuse i like to keep the bodywork on the car spotless and clean, when in the garage it is covered up with dust sheets, and polished every week eather its been out of not.

In my eyes seems like a waste putting all the money into one car then not using it,
however i can see the point, when you park up, always parnoid something or someone is gonna damage it etc to much attention can be a bad thing for an every day car

mine gets used everyday when imnot at uni, that 1 weekend a month and 4 months over the summer and 3 weeks over easter!!
yes it does get dirty and stone chipped, whats £200 to respray a bumper and enjoy driving the car rather than buy a 2nd car thats another hassle and worry
just be extra careful, mine never gets thrashed unless on 1/4 mile, its driven with a large distance behind cars in front etc etc
