Well seeing as a webserver serves webpages/content to web browsers, routers transfer packets from one network to another and a modem modulates and demodulates information. I think I'm quite right what you are thinking about is a proxy, such as Squid or ISA (I think).

tis why I like my job, I control the networks so I know where my packets are being filtered.

My boss knows I prat about on alot of forums, but probably doesnt know how much time I spend here .

Someone said at work yesterday that head office have been looking at the history and noticed CorsaSport.co.uk

I turned round and said I dont own a Corsa so what use would that be to me

my old workplace they monitored network acttivity but not phonecalls, so i just bought a cheap 56k whacked it into my computer and hey presto unlimited internet access (be it slow) and untraceable thrrough the network (once i fiddled with a few IE settings

that wont make any difference in your going through a proxy as the proxy will log all traffic
