Hey, Ive been having problems with my Engine Management light and after my service I was told that I needed a new Catalyst Convertor, so I got a low mileage one from a breakers and stuck it on. I then took my car to a local garage as I know the owner, and he told me he could get hold of a tech2 diagnostics tool to read my EM fault.

It came up as the AFM and its been giving me massive drops in powwer, almost to the point of the engine cutting out on dual carraigeways etc.

I unplugged the AFM, and since then, my car has driven a hell of a lot better than it has been recently, and despite my EM light being on all of the time - my car seems fine.

My MOT is next month, and if I were to leave it unplugged, would I fail - would it jigger up my emissions? Or if I left it plugged in - would I pass even if my revs decided to fuck off during the test?

Ive phoned all the scrappys but AFMs seem to sell as soon as they come in

EML Light is not a part of the mot test so as long as your emissions are ok you will pass.

If it doesn't pass, put some engine cleaner in with your fuel and give it a good thrashing!!

Always does the job where i work!
