i was told today by two local car mod shops that i could fit a se of 17s on my corsa 1994 1.4sri without doing any arch mods. and i could probably lower 30ml most, and it should styill be fine. ( may have to remove bolts though.

is this true anyone

Maybe, would depend on your car, wheel offset and tyre size though really. You will need to take the bolts off the inner arches at least in most cases, sometimes you might need to bang back a bit of metal or trim it off. You will want to lower the car 40mm really with 17's... Best thing to do is fit the wheels and see where it rubs.

i assume you have done this, do yuo notice any difference in speed.

i realy cant see why there should be a difference coz there is not much difference in overall size with a 14 to a 17

The main difference is the weight. The outside rolling radius is not much bigger with skinny tyres compared to the baloons they fitted to the Corsa as standard.
