on the motorway, sitting at an indicated 80 when i see a sly police camera van on the side of the road. Its typical because I was thinking to myself 'this road has had vans on before' Anyhow looks like I may be over the 10% allowance

Be very surprised if they did you for that. They might have just been a patrol and not even had a scamera. You'll have been mega unlucky to get done for that speed.
