I hava a gigabyte P4 titan GA-8SIMLH-P motherboard with a celeron 2.4 processor, can do a straight swap for a P4 2.8?
Im not to big on PCs so be gentile please

Adam, do it. will be a pretty good jump in performance, as long as you have plenty of RAM too. P4 prescotts are a lot faster than the Celerons, thanks to a huge chunk of level 2.

Get it. Dont bother about the RAM, because your motherboard has set limit. Mine is 1GHz, so i say check what the highest ammount of ram yours supports

P4 Titan motherboard will be able to support up to 2GB of RAM, so the more the merrier. XP wont have trouble with it either.

Adam, you need to keep memory types the same, so check what yours are first. at a stab in dark, probably PC2100.

Go for a matched pair of ram, providing your mobo supports dual channel mode you'll get better performance as bandwidth peak is double that of single channel.
About 60ish for Corsair 2x 512mb PC3200 sticks from Scan
