Right, I sold an item on ebay, it was shipped on thursday 16th just after 12 noon by first class (I have the reciept from the local post office). He sent me an email sunday that he hadnt received, which I thought was obvious considering it was the weekend. He sent me another email monday saying he still hasen't got it. I got back to him both times, just hope he recieves it today. But what if he dosen't recieve it? Or he has recieved it but is lieing?Or it could be lost in the post or something? Don't know what my options are really. Any opinions? John

Then you have no leg to stand on as far as the royal mail are concerned. If it was of value it should have gone at least recorded if not special

Your word against his then, but if he really hasn't received his item, then he may turn nasty depending on the amount of money that you've taken from him.
Should always send by recorded atleast which requires a signature and proves that the item has been sent although it leaves you high and dry if it's delivered to the wrong address. Insured will see you compensated if your item does not reach it's intended destination.

You could, but it wouldn't get you very far if seller can prove that you have received it.

if is just a standard delivery like i used, loads of people use it on ebay, the seller would'nt be able to prove iv recieved it. its an annoying situation. It was a phone sold for £85. And in future i will use the recorded delivery. Just don't know what i'm going to do in this situation

I fucked myself over like this too.
Sold a DVD Recorder on there about 2 years ago, £250 for it, sent it enhanced insurance (not recorded) and he claimed he never recieved it.
Went to royal mail, they didn't have any record of anything (as it wasn't recorded) and i lost the slip for enhanced insurance...
So long story short, i had to buy another recorder and send him that.
Moral of the story, i shouldn't have been a cheap bastard

I always send my stuff recorded even if it's just an xbox game or something. If it's worth more than £30 I send it special delivery or give the buyer the option of how they want it delivered
