Just wondering who on here has an oil cooler on there xe and do u think it is essential need and also does anybody have one spare or for sale?

fitted one as i got it with the engine vaux must have started putting them there for a reason

i used my car mainly on the track for about 8 months with no oil cooler. TBH they are more trouble than there worth IMO

why are they trouble?
dont they simply connect up and thats it?

i had one..... gave it away i think...
Will look into a new mocal cooler and sandwitch plate once i see what the temps are doing on hard drives

yes, but ive seen it loads of times where the pipes split or get pulled off by snapped alt belts or crap on the road. Not having it means one less thing to go wrong.

Vauxhall fitted them to Cavalier GSi's because they were meant to have an engine bay pan to seal the engine bay from the elements on the road. I have never seen one nor have I seen one fitted to a Cav GSi. On a Corsa you don't really need it because the oil is cooled when it is floating about in the sump because the sump is exposed...
Mine was leaking like a bitch so I removed the oil cooler sandwich plate using a 10mm allen key and replaced it with part # 90144360 which is essentially a piece of hollow brass studding that goes into the oil pump and allows you to directly attatch the oil filter.... 
If your engine has a working one, and you take the time to fit it properly (i.e. bolting the cooler on correctly and retaining the hoses properly with P clips or similar) then I see no problems in using one to be honest.
