Ok so my 1995 Corsa with its 1990 C20XE is due for an MOT at the end of the month. The engine never had a CAT but i'm worried that because the chassis 'used' to contain an engine that required a CAT the tester will fail me on the emissions?

Anyone else had any similar circumstances or know where I stand legally?

Thanks

another one. p2 of this is good

they should test to the engine's age. even if it's got a cat prefix on the engine code, it doesn't need one.

excellent - that's a weight off - thanks Myke

looks like all i've got to do is prove the age of the engine. If I get the VIN number anyone know where I can get a document so that I can prove the age of the engine? Vauxhall?

Where are you going for the mot? I know a local garage where you wont have any problems (not a dodgy mot either)

the year of manufacture is stamped/cast into the cam caps. you can see one directly under the oil cap.
