I dunno - from what I've seen of CoD2 (and I'm a huuuge fan of CoD, infact I conrtibute to getting cheats put on the Master Ban List... ) it just looks like CoD with different battle theatres and different army divisions.
I'm also a massive WWII fan so would love a BF2 but in WWII settings - hopefully CoD2 will be like that...

IMO BF1942 (and secret Weapons etc etc) sucked! The maps were ridiclously huge, ppl would just jump in a jeep/tank/plane and leave on their own and crash it after 30 secs of wobbling about in it - DC was the best thing to happen to BF1942 and it's hardly a surprise that that's the route EA haven taken for BF2 - I bet they were spewing at thinking how much more popular DC was than BF1942 - and DC was free!! 
EA suck anyway and deserve all the carp that get's thrown at them, ever since they stop supporting MoH:AA after just two patches and no Anti-cheat I've disliked them, but with BF2 they know their on a winner and will support it up to the hilt.

this demo wont run for me 
my spec is this
Athlon XP 3000+ running at 2.16ghz
1.5GB DDR RAM
128MB DDR Gefore4 Ti 4200
only thing i can thing of is the Gfx card......
any ideas?
