Ok Im going to America next month for a fortnight and was wondering what everyone thought I should take as my spending money to get me the most dollars to pounds and be the safest option.

1. Travellers cheques are obviously safe as you can get them back if stolen but should I be taking Sterling or Dollar ones?

or

2. A bank card so I can draw the money out while Im over there?

Cheers Mark

Take travellers cheques as they can be replaced if stolen
If you were to take your bank card you would get charged for exchanging the money and for withdrawing it, and you'd be more likely to spend more

Yeah take travellers cheques - either in US dollars or pounds, whichever you prefer. Usually if you get them from your own bank they have special offers on commision/charges or whatever. I know American Express do.

Otherwise, if you are taking some cash in dollars, most Post Offices stock USD and they charge no commission too.

Another holiday money question

How much would you take on holiday to Faliraki for 2 weeks roughly?
