put it on 2 days ago, received this email off a guy...
Hi,
I want to know your last price on the car, and the present conditon of the car, mileage and years of usage, payment will be with a certified UK Bank Cheque. Your immediate response will be appreciated.
Ben
so i emailed him back, and he replied with this....
Thanks for your mail, i have decided to get it £1800 and i don't mind the cheque having to clear before i get the keys, but i'll need you to wire the balance of my moneys through Western Union Money transfer to my P.A so we can pay the shipping agency for the shipping so they can book us for the next available cargo. So i want you to know if i can trust you on sending the remaining balance to my P.A through Western union Money Transfer, because i'll be sending a cheque for £4,000. To start with the procurement of the bank cheque,i will need the followiing info from you:Your full address(street,city/town,state,Country and post code), your phone number and name to be written on the cheque.Thank you and hoping to hear from you soon.
Regards ben.
N.b:I'll make arrangement with the shipping company to send an agent to view the car at your convienience.
I can smell something, Then just got another email off another guy, which was basically the same as the first email, just reworded differently.

No way, that sounds like a scam. i had that through ebay. Someone saying that about buying a phone and ebay kicked them off because it was a scam! Steer well clear of that. i know it's not ebay, but it still sounds like a scam to me!

What car are you selling on there?? It hasn't been on there long, so give it time. I had a micra on there for nearly two weeks and then at the last minute 4 people rang up for it on the same day!

Basically once you give them your address they'll suggest sending a direct bank transfer instead of a cheque or some similar excuse to get the rest of your details. If u give them that then they have all the details needed to write cheques in your name or construct countifeit creditcards!
would be wise to report the person to autotrader and then to the police, make sure u include a print off of the source code of the email as it helps the cops track the people down.

That is a good idea.
I had a dodgy email off a conman from Nigeria saying I won £2 million. And that I needed to send x amount to get the funds released.
I wound him up for about a month, I made out I was really greatful and that I was a vicor in Bournemouth and that the money was going to a Homeless Childrens thing. He sent me a certificate made in word stating that I won the money
I said for every charity we ask for a photograph so we can put it on our 'Special wall' and pray for them
Then after the month had gone I sent him a virus never heard from him after that
It was great fun he really thought he had me
