I had a crash at 17 and got a 1.4 sport after, the insurance cost 1700 and when i renew it in july it'll be about £800 which is what i started on with my first 1.4
Get a smaller engine for a year save some money then get a better engine size and your insurance wont be as high

If insurance is a problem then what about a 1.3 Ford Ka. There group 2. Make sure you get a nice one though with colour coded bumpers etc.

Well your only young so there is plenty of time to build up to a bigger engine and to get no claims
Just take care of your new car
