as per the title! any ideas why it sounds so bad? seems to run ok, will be getting the cams set up properly next week but worried that there might be something else wrong? anyone else had their engines sounding like this?

probably tired hydraulic valve lifters. 
they can be cleaned or a new set is £110. 
worth changing the oil first to see if that helps. you can also get oil additives that will quieten it down.

run that engine flush through it before changing the oil. mine is tappety when cold. after a min or so its fine. sticky lifter in my bus or 11 of them.

I'm not bothered about the noise as i dont hear too good anyway, just someone said it was sounding like a diesel so I got a bit worried, just wanna make sure it's nothing serious!

yes and they WILL BE A BAG OF SHITE I have had 2 change liffters twice in my car as non GM ones were used first time, were noisy again very quickao fitted GM now --- All Good
