I know Dave 17 told me what cable I need to connect my ipod to my head unit - but I don't think it's the right one as a I have a Pioneer 6400 R Cd head unit, quite an old one (with dolphins etc) - not even sure if I have a Aux in thing or not. I know some Pioneers came with a thing called IPBus or something to plug things into?

To be honest I'm clueless. but does anyone know what I can use to get my ipod music to play out of my car speakers? I'm happy to still use the ipod to control the selection.

I know you can get some adapter that lets you control your ipod through your head unit but thats £££... and more advanced than I need. I also know you can get something that goes through the air waves but thats about £145!

So does anyone with a pioneer head unit or similar and a ipod know what exact cable I need to listen to ipod music through my car speakers via my head unit?

Cheers.

if your headunit has a bus connector on it, then spend 80 quid on the ipod pioneer box (look on CAD) - allows you to control your ipod from the headunit etc etc

you can make your own but it can be quite fiddly.

yeah my friend has an iTrip and its shoot, also the connector made by pioneer which is 80 quid is equally as shoot or so it says evewrywhere on the web ppl prefer to make their own or buy the ones of eBay which appear to be better....

Best bet is do what I did.. me and my mate when halves. the mini jack connectors are bloody cheap, a pioneer ip bus (cd changer) cable is £20 from halfords, so £10 each

You only need the CD changer cable if you only have the IP bus port on the back of the HU. Most newer pioneers already have a few inch lead coming out of the unit, so you can just wire directly to that.
