My girlfriend just got me an mp3 player. I tried to instal the software but it turns out that it need to be on a newer version of Windows than the version i have (98). Whats the best solotion?? Either take it back and try to get one that works on Windows 98 or upgrade my version of windows to one that it will work on???

Surely this is something you could decide yourself? 
Either you mind going through the hassle of returing the mp3 player or not - if you mind, then just get XP from the "special shop"

Buy Windows XP from the "special shop"  If it don't work then take the MP3 player back the shop.
Just what i would do but depends on the person really.

Get Windows XP. Windows 98 is 7 years old, it's time you update it.
