i wana set up a server now that ive finally got counter strike workin...
im not sure im doin it right tho...
if i made one and called it corsasport.co.uk
would u all be able to find and join it?

Oh dear oh dear if you dont know what the IP is then its going to be interesting seeing you set up a server! my advice is to go on google and do a search for setting up a server on counterstrike or something similer must be thousends of faq's on the subject!

i know how to set one up but dont have a clue to get my mate in the same game with me! theres thousands on servers... so how can i get him in with me?

You don't need the IP if the server's set to advertise, it just shows in the server list.

If you've set your server to advertise when you set it up, then it should appear in the "Find a Game" section in CS (assuming you have the Steam version).

i have the steam yer...but theres like 1000k ++ servers so it aint really easy findin the right server

I suggest you stop playing CS on your PC, it's supposed to be used for Spreadsheets and writing letters, not playing games.
Get CS on the Xbox instead, then I can drop you on CS Militia from the house window with the Magnum sniper rifle

Just organise the server list by the name, much easier to find. I don't think you can filter it by name though. Once you find it the first time, it can just be added into the favourites. Giving your mate the IP is the easiest way, mind.

start playing
press ` for the console
type status
will give you ip highlight copy & paste...
