Lot No: 807W

1984 Pontiac Firebird
K.I.T.T.
Knightrider
NBC, 1982-1986.
305 V8, automatic transmission.

This car was used in the third season of the hit series, Knightrider, and is the only Super Pursuit mode car left. The car was re-converted to simulate the Pursuit car that was used in the Knightrider made for television movie (1994) and for exhibition and promotional purposes.

David Hasselhoff plays Michael Knight against the real star, K.I.T.T, for Knight Industries 2000. KITT is a 300-mph, high-tech, self-aware, communicative, man-made marvel, who together with it’s human co-star takes up every lost cause and fights for justice across America.

Interested bidders should note that this car is currently on contract for use in the new Adam Sandler movie Benchwarmers. The shoot is scheduled for May 17 and 29 and June 3. Work is currently being performed on the car to bring it up to the desired spec for the film. The purchaser must release the car for this film, and will not receive direct compensation, other than that the car will have been used in another movie. This car was also featured on The Nick & Jessica Variety Hour.

Estimate: $60,000 to 85,000

Sale 13278 - Barris Motor Car Collection

Lot No: 841W

1993 Mazda RX7
The Fast & The Furious
Universal, 2001.
Rotary engine, twin turbo, manual transmission, with Veilside Japanese rims, currently unavailable in the United States.

This RX7 was used in the film and driven by Vin Diesel. In the main drag sequence pitting Walker’s Eclipse against Diesel’s RX7, the interior shots of the cars were actually in stationary vehicles.

This is the stunt RX7 actually used in the external shots and driven by Vin Diesel in, among other scenes, the escape from the police following the drag race. One tip-off is that the car has roller wheels installed under the front spoiler so that when Diesel pushes it hard up into the steep incline of the parking garage, the front end sustains no damage. The interior of the car is tricked out, and sports functional and non-functional gauges and a prop nitrous set up. Acquired by George Barris and exhibited in a number of car shows.

Estimate: $65,000 to 85,000

Sale 13278 - Barris Motor Car Collection

Lot No: 840W

1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse
The Fast & The Furious
Universal, 2001.
Stock drive train, 4 cylinder, automatic.

This is the actual #2 stunt car driven by star Paul Walker in several scenes of the film, including he main drag sequence which pits Walker against Vin Diesel in his red RX 7. This car was built by Paul Eddie and restored with exhibition kustomization by George Barris. This vehicle has been extensively toured and is instantly recognizable.

The Fast and the Furious revolves around the illicit street racing scene in Los Angeles, where the common denominator is super fast, tricked out Japanese cars, although there are some serious Detroit cameos. Blacks, Latinos, Asians, and the occassional white guy all live and breath fast cars, Corona, and hot chicks, holding down day jobs in the garage just waiting for night when they can light up their nitrous powered rocket sleds. Or to paraphrase maxpower.co.uk, ‘From start to finish it’s a 200mph, 10-second quarter mile California headrush, a supercharged battle for respect and money, where racing is everything and winning is more.’

Paul Walker plays Brian O’Connor, an undercover cop whose cover story is that he’s a paroled car thief from Arizona trying to break into the street-racing world. Vin Diesel turns in a compelling performance as Dominic Toretto, a kid who grew up in the racing world, saw his father die on the track in front of him, and beat the man he felt responsible half to death. Jailed for the crime, he’s vowed never to go back. Currently he runs a tight-knit gang of Honda Civic-driving truck-jackers, which Walker is sent to infiltrate. Lots of action, great cars, a thrilling ride. The cars in this film, and the film itself greatly popularized and probably expanded the trend in customizing these cars.

Estimate: $65,000 to 75,000

Sale 13278 - Barris Motor Car Collection

Lot No: 842W

1968 Dodge Charger
The Fast & The Furious Universal, 2001.
440 ci with automatic transmission, black on black, prop blower.

This is the stunt car used in the final motorcycle chase and street-race scene between Paul Walker and Vin Diesel.

The back story is that Diesel’s father had built the car up to “900 horsepower of Detroit muscle,” but that he had never driven it because he was afraid of it – apparently with good reason.

This was not the car that was flipped and crashed, but rather the car used for the motorcycle street chase and final drag race scene.

Without Reserve

Estimate: $45,000 to 55,000
