back on topic, i reckon the holders of any cup should have the opportunity to defend their title, it demeans the tournament otherwise i think.

i actually agree with this comment...

Holders of any Competition cup (unless domestic) should automatically qualify...

I believe the same rules apply to the world cup now where the holders have to qualify not 100% sure though

I think this is fair enough. Everton have been better over a course of 38 games.

Of course if UEFA and the FA let both teams in then great.

But if it's one or the other then the 4th place team should get it.

For example:
Brazil won the World Cup but might not be able to defend it due to poor qualification. Same for Liverpool, if you look at the Premier League as 'qualification'.

I'd like to see 5 English teams in the Champions League, even though the fact they let in 4th place and 3rd place for that matter is a total joke. All about money
