what is the differences in bhp etc as i am going to put 1 in my car i want a 1.6 but is very hard to find but i can find the 1.4 i need the whole car that i can buy say a write off cuz i want power steering aswell and a few other things cheers

lol thats what i thought but by how much cuz i rang up the insurance and it was exactly the same price it wud go up by to put either of them engines in my car but the gsi was loads more

1.4 16v - 90BHP standard. 0-60 in 10.5 secs
1.6 16V - 105BHP standard. 0-60 in 9.5 secs

just keep looking for a c16xe engine, then a x16xe, then a x14xe
in that order

The 0-60 thing might be misleading as the 1.4 needs a gear change at about 55mph. Not sure, but I'd guess the 1.6 goes to 65mph-ish. Kinda distorts the figures.

Raised limiter and Mantzel seriously increases 0-60 due to not having to change to third.
