Managed to get leak tester to work properly and bingo, lots of compressed air flying out of the filler cap
sh*t, sh*t, and double sh*t! That means rings I was right all along
Stopped at Harry Halfords on way home to get some of that ring seal filth and a Haynes manual to try and find out how much of a mission it would be to change the rings.
No manual Special order! And out of all the local-ish branches of Halfords, they were the only branch to have any ring seal. They had one type in stock. Of which they had one tube, which was missing the instructions and applicator
Had to get Halfords dude (top fella and V6 Sierra nut btw ) to phone Timbuctoo branch and get someone to read out the ring seal instructions over the phone
Consoled my sadness over worn rings and lack of manual by buying a couple of cans of NOS octane booster for the Turbo.
Looking forward to experimenting with it once i've got a sodding pipe. Would like to get my mitts on a barrel of Elf racing fuel and some tyre softener aswell - Santa Pod, watch out
Btw, tried the ring seal this afternoon.
You have to put it in cold, so took a plug out when home from work yesterday and left car accessible on drive.
Wasn't sure what ammount to use, so dumped 2/3 of the pack in No. 6 with my all purpose, get-you-out-of-a-fix, brilliant, life saving little auto box top-up / home brewers funnel
Left it five mins. Ran car up, surprising lack of sh*te out of back. Whoops, bad sign, that means the rings are realy f*cked and it went straight in the sump.
Worse fears confirmed when oil light comes on just down the road (your supposed to drive car for 30 miles at 30 mph )
Pulled over and switched off. Waited, tried again, light flickering at anything less than 2000 rpm and i'm stuck in traffic at temporary lights (absol-c*nting-lootly typical )
Swift u-turn and fly back up the hill to home staring at oil light with one eye all the way.
Back on drive, check oil and no visible filth in oil, so start up again and proceed to rag b*llocks off until oil light stays out.
Phew, strainer must have been full of the cr*p.
Continue with road test at gentle rpm and while not loading or labouring engine for just over 30 miles (nearly as much fun as 100 mile trek in turbo off boost with no exhaust) got her home and the news is...
... not a f*cking ounce of difference. Stuff obviously only works with low compression as opposed to no compression
Have to girl slap Mike and Steve when back at work for suggesting such nonsense, and myself for listening
Oh well, need to find Ford V6 specialist for cheap 2nd hand lump install, or ring replacement - Yeah, like that's gonna happen.
Realy don't fancy tearing it apart on drive though. Even though both Pete and John reckon it'll be a piece of cake and offered to help. F*cking lunatics
You know what it's like, the Gynecolgist gets home after a hard week's work, and just can't bring himself to go anywhere near his randy and gorgeous missus because he is sick of the sight of fannies.
Spend my weekend tearing an engine out of a car and pulling it apart - no f*cking chance

I could have said 'nah, she's f*cked',
but then you'd have thought i'd been hit on the head and lost the power of rational thought, or been kidnapped from my computer and replaced by a monosyllabic cretin
