And my mate is even more useless.

Someone crashed into the back of him the other day, and he got her name, mobile phone number and insurance details, without the most important one - the registration number.

All her details turned out to be completely false except her name and mobile phone number and the police now say this is a civil matter. On enquiry into mobile phone number tracking, it will cost £400.

£600 worth of damage due to a scumbag being on the road with clearly no tax, insurance or probably mot and nowt he can do about it.

Any suggestions as to where he could go from here?

How do you know that the mobile number is not false also? If she's going to go to the trouble of fabricating a name and policy then I'm sure altering the digits of a phone number isn't too hard.

Also - does he remember any part of the reg or car model/colour etc.?

99% sure its her correct name as the police looked her up and said someone with the same name has been involved in few crashes...

He phoned her mobile and she didnt know it was him...when he said who it was she put the phone down straight away.

Doesnt know the make/model of the car, probably the colour though.

Get someone you know with a serious voice to phone her up and tell her she's won something then ask her to confirm that the postcode you have on the account is NE4 and she'll say no NE whatever hers is, get the full code and the house number and throw that in QuickAddress.

Failing that do the 400 quid number search and sue her for costs.

Surely the police will have records of the vehicle in which she has crashed privately?

The police certainly have better access to more information and I'm very surprised that they don't want to do anything.

The postcode idea is a canny one, going to give him it as an idea to try. I was astounded to see he didnt get the reg plate, but his excuse was that he'd never been in a crash before
