yes, every1 who i've sold a CV boot to at halfords have all said they use cable ties instead of the clamps !!

Yes, a lot of boot kits come with them anyway. IMHO, they are not all that good as clamping force is very small where the actuall clip is. You may get leakage there.
I prefer and recommend you get the correct metal ties. Can be a pain to tighten up, but give equal clamping force all the way round.

Hmmm do I make the trip to halfords for the pincers to tighten the metal clamps or do I use cable ties?
Dont the metal ones come off easier?

just use the cable ties....... good for everything
my rad fan is held in place with them..........

they are ok to use but you may get a slight judder apparently
