I've got a punto sporting (1.2 16v) at the moment and there is a very clean looking Red Corsa GSI for sale near to me whick i'm very tempted by.
Whats the difference performance/handling/reliabilty wise?
I know the corsa will be quicker etc but how much better and how will the running costs compare?

It will be quite a bit more to insure about a second or more quicker to 60 but probably alot quicker above that to 100 and higher top end... running cost well higher tax, petrol will go up a bit but not dramiatically as long as you dont have a heavy right foot the handling is probably very simlar and its much more tunable and better looking IMO probably not as nice to drive as the punto but will feel more sporty...

sporting better to drive, better to look at, better interior but slower and handles worse. personally I'd not get the corsa

Girlfriend has just got a punto sporting and to be honest its a really good car.
Engine is pokey, it has e/w e/s/r, c/l, rear headrests, alloys.
Great car imo.

But if you want cheap parts, cheap servicing, easy to tune, swap engines, get the Corsa.

I'd describe the punto as more of a girls car - really light power steering with a gay "City" button or "Gay" button whereas the Corsa can be tuned to be very quick and feels more heavier and responsive steering.. Personally i'd have the GSI but then, sticking with the punto is probably more sensible... but I am not that and the is why i would choose the GSI... I'm in £130,000 debt and one of my 1st cars was a V6 so if you wanna be like me get the GSI, tune the balls off it and have some fun... Go on you know you want to!
