I live in east yorkshire and i paid Turners Alarms & Audio in sunderland (which is a 160 mile drive from me) to fit a dvd player and screen into the centre console of my car for £200.

picked it up , i couldnt set it to demist because of a wire in the way, hazard button was broken , fingerprints in the paint and the full centre console was glued in , i had to remove it to fix my demister (so the full thing was hanging off after i did this).

I had to take a day off work to get all this sorted , set off at 5:30 in the morning to take it back. They didn't offer to pay any travel expenses to me or pay for me having to do a 300 mile round trip to take my car back for them to sort it .

took my car back to them , was left with them for just over an hour so i decided to ring them to see how much longer i'd be wandering around in sunderland for.
They said they can't fix the hazard button becuase it was already broken when i first brought my car in (which it definitelty wasn't!) , so I asked if they would give me the money to buy a new one to which they repied "I will tell you what , you come here , get your car and FUCK OFF".

so i went back , car was outside the building left as in the pics below. started driving away.....indicators didn't work. Took the car back and the manager says "well they was working when we had it" so i said that i cant drive for 3 hours on the motorway without indicators , he replied "you can and you will". He then walks over to my car , fixes the indicators then gives me some crap about how its all my fault.

here is when i first got it

and heres how i picked it up after they were going to fix it -

i contacted trading standards , they advised me to write a letter , i wrote it and gave them 10 days to reply which they chose not to.

there workmanship and attitude stinks...

In the end if all else fails can take them to small claims court which trading standards will sort out for you and guide you through the process..

you would still get it back in small claims court...and makes a point to them too that they can't get away with it..ask trading standards..

i've never sued anyone before , they didn't reply to my initial letter so im not going to get £140 back off them without suing them, seemed like a lot of bother to sue them...

small claims is easy to do. you pay a fee to send them a warrent then you go to court. the person in front of you is a sherriff so is a lay-person. you explain your position and then they award damages etc

Some ICE companies are pros, they know what they are doing and do a good job/provide good services

Some are shoot, have crap customer services and think they can change their legal responsibilites as a business when it comes to a refund.

Dont let it go mate, go down the proper routes, take them to a small claims court, and then also charge them for fees of taking them to court. WHen contacting them, try to keep your cool, avoid swearing as they will use it as an excuse for not talking to you.

Hope it goes well for you.

its not like turners are a cheap little outfit tho, theyve won competitions worldwide for their work, were chosen to do the REDLINE magazine installs, been in lots of I.C.E magazines with write-ups on their work.

very shocked to be honest, especially if it was one of the turners family you spoke to!
