Anyone run leaded petrol in a 20XE? At the local pumps the other day I noticed that 97ron Leaded was only 1-2p more than 95ron Unleaded and 2-3p cheaper than the optimax crap which is also 97ron?

Can I use this, mine is a 91 lump with no cat but running later management so has a lamba sensor? Obviously its not a good idea for MOT time emmisions but for now....?

im sure the lead in the petrol was there to protect the valves without it the valves would burn? so its bad to put unleaded in a leaded engine, but not sure on leaded in unleaded engine, the lead deposits might build up over time

Nope they will be fine, it's to protect the valve seats anyways

Running LRP (lead replacement petrol) is not a good plan if you have a lambda sensor as it will "poison" it. if you ground the ecu out to no need the lambda and have no cat then you'll be fine, but you won't have any closed loop running anymore. hope it helps.
