Go and get "When Trumpets Fade"
Wicked war movie about the little known about WW2 battle in the Hurtegan Forest where 60,000 American GI's were killed in the closing stages of the war.
Really good, only trouble was it was made at the same time as SPR and did'nt get much attention, shame considering its a much better historically accurate film.

Enemy at the Gates is loosely based on a true story, Vasily Zitsef was a real soldier but the battle with the Major never really happened.
