3k month is pretty cheap mate - usually your looking at around 10k+ for something like that

does it have to be a lease line, couldnt you go co-lo and just get a decent connection for the uplink to the media box?

although its easy having it in house, but your gonna pay alot more for something like that mate

Just a 2mbit leased line is around £16k a year with a decent provider...

Plus, 100mbit uplink in a datacentre doesn't guarantee you 100mbit of internet bandwidth...

Plus it'll be much more resilient to problems in a proper datacentre, rather than the multiple single points of failure you'd have if you did it yourself...

For a 100Mbps leased line, you're going to be looking at more than that per MONTH, easily...

The AudioScrobbler/last.fm people have 100mbit for their streaming radio, but thats in Vienna. And its free.
The actual site/profiles database servers etc are all in the UK.

Spilt it down into several packages instead of one to reduce costs

Reduced streaming to 512 kps, as to reduce the bandwitdh required.

1 mb SDSL for uploading and a decicated windows server with a 2000GB transfer limit per month.

Set up costs are £975.00 then a further month (first month on top of set up charges) of £875.00

*checks prices at his company*

Setup:

SDSL: £450
Shared rack-space: £250

Monthly:

SDSL (1Mbps): £265
2u rack-space: £75
1Mbps transfer: £120
2000GB Bandwidth: £495

All prices exclude VAT...

So, that's £822.50 setup, and £1122.50 per month after that......however, the internet connection is pre-provided for the server co-location, as it's all housed inside a secure data-centre (Telecity in Manchester). So, unless the SDSL was required for another purpose (ie. another site), then you could knock £528.75 off the setup fee and £311.38 off the monthly fee, making it £293.75 setup and £811.12 per month.

Zen Internet:

SDSL Page: http://www.zenadsl.com/SDSL.aspx?page=197
Hosting Page: http://www.zen.co.uk/products/body_products.asp?ProdId=130056

The prices for the throughput (ie. immediate connection-speed) for up to, and above, 15 Mbps are listed on there, although >15Mbps is POA...

Your best bet, if you want to look at a custom package, would be to give our Sales team a call in the morning, as they'll be able to give you all the options and design a package depending on exactly what you're after......0845 059 9000 between 8am and 6pm, from memory (their opening hours just extended).

Always good to keep your services with one provider, I'd say......I guess I'd be accused of being slightly biased, though!
