as above people, i dont wanna destroy it TOO much as i need to use the bottom section so i can fit a 2004 corsa sri top section help is much appreciated, doing loadsa lil things to the blue heap today

Put a bin liner down.

Cut in the location of the two lugs on the handle - once they're cut out, the handle should slide off.

My guess is that if you cut that area out, you can just slide the bugger off.
