I thinking of giving up my permanent IT job and moving into contracting.
Anyone else here already doing this?
Looks like you could make a shed load of money, but offsetting that agaisnt possible weeks where you have not got any work could be risky?

Would you be agency or self employed? I worked agency before - different work but it was a nightmare! Ended up out of work for 2 months at 1 point then landed on my feet a kooshty number as a production QC analyser only to be paid off from that after only a month - so I changed careers into something permanent

Depends that kind of IT copntracting you'll be doing? Is it networking or programming ? and how much demand there is for it in your area... Also depends how good you are and how cheap you are ... A mate does networking at £50 an hour and gets shead loads of business because he is cheap!
