there aint much point in me working an extra 18 hours a week for an extra 150 quid a month if it is 22% off at the end of the month

22% but you're only taxed on what you earn above your allowance, which is normally about 4 grand.
Work out your yearly income, subtract 4 grand and you'll be taxed 22% of that. Divide that by 12 and that is your monthly stoppage.
