you can actually run an ipod with 98 the problem is 98 doesnt have usb mass storage drivers built in whereas 2000 and xp do, do a search on google for ipod drivers for 98, someone has nocked some up as i have seen them before, also in the book it states you need usb2 or firewire, normal usb works fine too.
