Hi, i just had a 1994 corsa sri 16v and unfortunately on the way to work one day had a head on with another car. the car is not as yet written off but it soon will be. Gutted

I am currently looking to get another sri (corsa b) and was wondering what the actual differences in performance are between the two. and also advantages/disadadvantages of the two. (one disadvantage of the 16v is the bloody egr valve! had this replaced two days before crash!!! )

any info would be much appreciated

thanks

Your 16v must have been in bad condition. My SRi 16v used to destroy an SRi 8v. They are so much quicker, trust me.

my 16v was used before i had it for road rallies. it was quick off the mark still. but my uncle currently uses his for enduro rallies. its alot better in the mid range

with 16valvers, the power is higher up the rev range, so you do have to thrash it a bit, but you'll find it to be pretty quick. And plus, you get the beautiful growl that comes with a corsa 16v

Had my 1.4 16v sport for a few days now, totally loving it! Feels really quick for a 1.4, but you do have to thrash it abit, but it just keeps going. Its very loud as well, lovely low rumble when you boot it, and i havent even done anything to it yet!

i have the 8v. and thats bloody loud with an exhaust sytem and induction kit! (silencers removed) but standard the 16v is louder, but i assume your putting those items on anyway.
the 8v is quick in respect- but i bought the 8v for insurance reasons

The 16v is 8bhp more powerful and sounds far nicer.

Insurance should be identical? Both group 6.

I also think im right in saying that the 16v is more tuneable? I think some guy from SBD got 198Bhp from an X14XE Not sure what he did to it though...

200bhp from a 1.4 is a few thousand quid, but possible.

As insurance goes i think the group depends on the company. I think my 1.4 sport is classed as insurance group 8 by my company

Well im hoping to get 110-120 bhp from my X14, looking forward to tuning it actually, think it has great potential.

http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/insurance/?model_id=989

That shows the ins group for all corsa's 93-00. Sport/sri is in group 6.
