I got nicked for 101 mph on the m23, by a unmarked evo. It's likely I'm going to court at some point and will probably just plead guilty, but are torn whether to try to keep my license by getting letter's from employer / personal tutor from uni - as I need my car to commute to uni (a bit of a lie) and commute to work.
I've heard of people getting a 28 day ban and no points? ... How does this work?
Thus I guess you tick the box on insurance saying you've had a ban / insurance refused in the past...
But if I don't get banned, I'll get 6 points and a fine. How much does your insurance premium generally rise these day's with points?
and how much does having a ban make your insurance rise by?
Thanks,
Paul J

The judge will not have commuting as an excuess as you do not need to drive to do your job or uni. you can get the bus etc there is only for people like taxi drivers that applies.
I would imgaine for a 101 though you are looking at a ban anyway depant on time of day.

There is next to no chance the commuting excuse will make any difference, otherwise everyone would do it.
An old boss of mine racked up 12 points and got off with it saying he needed his car for business and if he lost it he would have to close the firm, lay off 20 lads etc. Needless to say before long he got 3 more points and they banned him for 6 months.
Ask to see the vid first just in case, if it is 101mph you'd better get a bus pass.

You can't see the vid unless you plead not guilty. Sassy - what did your mates insurance premiums do? Did they rise massively?
The commuting would not protect me true - but what if I got my boss to write a letter, that came up with a reason (something to do with my job - i.e. I have to be on call at any time of day, incase a ride has a certain problem (bullshit)) and thus can't rely on public transport?

most of the time they will not bye it, 100+ you as good as banned its just six months or 12 months and how big a fine a judge decides to give you.

What if they then get in touch with your boss?
Shaky ground really, even with the letter he's effectively lying in court.

unlucky you can try getting your boss to write some bullshit up, but in all honesty, you kind of know yourself it wouldn't stick.
did you not see the video while you were sitting in the cop's car?
just bad like mate, gonna have to start waking up that little bit earlier

I didn't get to sit in the cops car.
The cop said if I'm banned it'll only be for a maximum of 28 days. (which seems to fit in with what I've read on the net)
Because it was 101 mph on a motorway and not a dual carriageway, or kiddies playground - it's a bit more leniant, than say 76 in a 30.

Plus you got to think, what the police officer is going to say as the judge will base his dission on what he has to say 95% of the time so if he says you where a danger doing the speed in certain hours you could have up to a ban of up to a year plus points on top as well as a large fine and you will have court costs as well on top.

Total agree ally do the crime do the time, unless you have a great laywer and worm your way out of it,
yets face it a laywer can get you off anything, just it will cost you. In some case i reckon you be better off doing the time than owing a laywer 1000's
