Taking the Mrs away and just want somewhere clean near/on the beach with half decent food, near nightlife but not in the middle of it (if u know what i mean)

Any recommendations?

i quite liked laguna park I was really nice

although laguna park II was up about 1 million steps!!

Stick to Los Christianos mate, it's the nicer and more classier side of the island and only a short walk or taxi trip into Las Americas (for thenight life)

Turst me i used to live there and taken my current and ex gf there
