cant quite remember how its spost to work, should it turn on as soon as i start the ignition, it only workds if i press the clock button or if the lights are on

Should be on v.faint when the ignition is off.
When ignition is on and lights are off, the MFD should be bright.
When ignition is on and lights are on, the MFD should be dim.
