at the weekend.....

just wondering whether its a good idea to cut tiles with an angle grinder?

The tiles are thick floor tiles, and they need to bo round the basin pedastal and toilet, i.e. not square angles....

Is this an ok idea?

You may need to cut your tiles to fit around shower fittings or for corners. A tile cutter with a cutting wheel is suitable for cutting straight lines. Use the tool to score across the glazed surface of the tile, and then break the tile and it should break in a clean line. For circular shapes, use pliers to nibble bits off the tiles. Wear eye protection for this.

if you wanna do ceramic tiles properly, a good vice and tungsten tipped hand cutter will do perfectly.A tungsten carbide cylindrical blade will do for odd shapes, but you will go through blades like theres no tomorrow. use nips for small corner cutting

cut tile to nearly the correct size using a tile cutter.... then use a vice grips to nip away small pieces at a time till you have the shape you want... works really well.

grinder is only good for straight edges and its a cnut using it without breaking the tile....

ive just finished doing my kitchen and in the proccess of doing the halway...

i'll demonstrate with pictures later

found this helpfull for setting out ....

grinder or cutter will be hard, good for paving slabs, but with tiles it could run over them and take finger off, gonna be hard to grip em,
