Right, just trying to do compound angle formule and im a bit stuck, so if anyone can finish the question for me, showing all the working, that would be smashing

Ir= 5sinTheta + 2 sin (Theta + 45)

i know:
a = rcos alpha
b= rsin alpha

so:
2sin(Theta + alpha) = 1.51sin Theta + 1.41cos Theta
Ir= 5sinTheta + 1.41sinTheta+1.41cosTheta

= 6.41SinTheta + 1.41cos Theta
(now im stuck :-s), can anyone finish this off for me? its my las bloody question

Well 1.41 is root(2), so seperate out those terms. Then i'd personally look at squaring both sides as you'll get some sin2(theta)+cos2(theta) terms (which equal 1 -- trig identity), etc, etc...

sin(A + B) = sinAcosB + cosAsinB
cos(A + B) = cosAcosB - sinAsinB

rules? (i just woke up, sorry if thats no help!)
