Education being a business isn't all bad, a requirement to make money at least in the FE sector means that if your provision is no good you don't get students and you don't make money. Quality must be good, the courses must be good otherwise no one gets paid.

i know what you mean, but its the fact that they put money before education is my problem And it has a BIG impact on how the school is ran - hence bullies get light slaps on wrists etc etc

But its does usually mean that once a school gets a bad reputation, its very hard for the school to resurface again with a different image (better courses, teachers etc etc), considering they dont have the money to spend etc

but then again, this is why public schools were created

There are two issues there, the punishment of bullies and the financial side of it. I don't agree that money comes before education any more than it must but yeah, there's not a lot you can do with some children.

still, the fact schools are run like businesses does have a big effect on the punishments that are dished out, especially in state schools - due to the "bum on seats" etc etc ive only seen a few expellsions in my whole life being in state education...and they were all due to kids beating the living daylights out of teachers Yet, go to public education and cracking a fart in class usually results being excluded considering they can afford to chuck the wankers outs, were state education carnt.......but yea this abit off topic and breaking it down abit more, but still

problem is, u punish a kid at school, they then goes home and do something similar and get away with it with the parents, they wont know what is right or wrong

everything in life is money/bussiness ran, its the way of the world, people are naive if they think otherwise.
I went to the best comperesive in the country, but that was becuase the school was a business we got private sponsers etc on top of the goverment grants. and had a 100% pass rate at gcse,
yes we worked longer hours than other schools but thats life very few people get on by not working.

I know that Jodi, the issue is whether or not this gets in the way of education.

even state schools do not always hand out a relavent punishment because thay still get payed for the amount of kids in the school. so thay are reluctant to expell(sp) a chilled that should be.

no i agree with you its just people who say education, nhs etc is not a business pf course it is. and the better the business is run, i.e the more money coming in the better service you should be able to offer.

imo any kids who get excluded and have severe behavioural problems should be sent to special boarding schools, where they cant get out on a night and pikey around towns, where they have the staff and resources to deal with the little fkers and sort them out without bothering normal kids

I suggest we send them to boot camp and use them as cannon fodder
